Siri can do much more than make a phone call or open an app, but Apple doesn’t tell you all the possibilities. Here are some helpful commands to get started.
Note: Some people who are concerned about Siri always listening for “Hey Siri” suggest to disable that option and prefer to trigger it manually. This is done in Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri → Talk & Type to Siri.
You can also prevent Siri from being used when the phone is locked in Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri
Phone, Messages & Email
- Call xxx-xxx-xxxx
- Call Fred
- Call Fred on speakerphone
- Facetime Fred
- Send a message to Fred
- Text Fred, saying “Hey Fred, I’m delayed in traffic”
- Send an email to Fred about tomorrow’s meeting and say “I need to reschedule, can you do 11 o’clock?”
Device Settings
- Turn on WiFi
- Turn off the flashlight
- Increase brightness
- Turn down the volume
- Lumos (from Harry Potter) turns ON the flashlight
- Nox (from Harry Potter) turns OFF the flashlight
